This is a MUST DO! November to March is Turtle Season in Bundaberg. Witness mother turtles laying their eggs during ranger-guided tours at the Mon Repos Turtle Encounter between November and January. Then, from January to March, help create a pathway to the ocean for the baby turtles embarking on their journey through the East Australian Current.

Mon Repos in Bargara, Bundaberg is home to the Largest Loggerhead Turtle Rookery in the Southern Hemisphere. Every year hundreds of turtles make their way to Mon Repos Beach to lay their clutches of eggs. After a 6-8 week incubation period the hatchlings make their way from the sand dunes to the big blue ocean. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services offer Ranger Guided Tours from November to March for the opportunity to get up close and personal with these magnificent sea creatures.

The Mon Repos Turtle Centre is open 7 days a week all year round (except 25 December and 25 April). The guided Turtle Encounter tours will operate nightly from 9th November 2024 until 23rd March 2025 (Closed Christmas Eve – 24 December, Christmas Day – 25 December & New Years Eve – 31st December).
